To assist with managing some of the systems labs used to develop and test such solutions, we are seeking a Lab Manager- Electrical. The successful candidate will be part of the systems engineering team that is responsible for defining and testing the systems behavior for Enphase’s energy solutions. This position reports into the director of systems engineering.
In this role the successful candidate will:
Manage engineering lab day-to-day operations including lab organization, lab space access, security, and safety protocols.
Perform Day-to-day managing, prioritizing, and maintaining of the systems engineering labs
- Experience in lab setup, lab management and improvement; and managing an engineering lab space preferred.
Manage inventory of hardware components, equipment, products, and other supplies, and procure spare parts and supplies to ensure all supplies are stocked and available when needed by engineering teams.
- Perform lab tools and equipment inventory control, asset management, PO management, invoice payment and delivery management
Develop and maintain waste management plan for engineering labs including waste minimization and zero-waste-to-landfill targets.
Drive continuous improvement projects to improve the effectiveness of the labs and to ensure that lab design, equipment and layout is aligned with new product development roadmaps.
Maintain the engineering lab 5S program.
Ensure employee adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality requirements as needed to maintain compliance with lab certifications and company policies.
Ensure safety incidents and near misses are properly documented, reported, and investigated.
Drive the Safety Always safety culture and promote employee EHS engagement in the engineering labs.
- Perform equipment hardware installation and calibration, software licensing and renewal management (examples of equipment include power analyzers, scopes, AC and DC power sources, AC and DC electronic loads, serial communication devices, electric panels, breakers, relays… etc)
The successful candidate is required to have the following minimum qualifications:
- BE in electrical/electronics engineering or a similar field, with 12+ years of experience in a related field,
- This includes 5+ years of experience in a lab management role.
- Experience prioritizing and accommodating lab/equipment needs from various engineering teams
- Experience with lab PO process: from quotation, purchase, payment to delivery
- Experience understanding electrical and mechanical drawings
- Creative problem solving, experience figuring out ways to get things done quickly, efficiently, and professionally
- Familiarity with 120V/240V AC systems
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously, with little direction
- Computer literacy, including MS tools
Desired experience – the following will be a plus to have:
• Experience with Python or similar programming languages • Understanding of energy storage, microgrid and renewable energy systems
• Hands on experience with wired and wireless communication protocols
